A FLORAL WONDERLAND
I recently enjoyed a wonderful Autumn day out amongst the vibrant fields of Melbourne’s Colourful Tesselaar KaBloom flower festival. Just an hour by car from the city centre, this vibrant spectacle in the Dandenong Ranges is a veritable floral wonderland.
If you need a little cheering up, or a nature fix, then this is definitely the place to be. Acres of beautifully manicured gardens and fresh country air to stroll in will certainly put a smile on your face and your soul.
The KaBloom flower festival is the perfect outing for the Easter school holidays, with:
- activities and workshops for kids,
- ferris wheel,
- maze,
- tractor rides,
- Circus Oz performing on stage,
- fairy garden and playground,
- shops, and
- food trucks offering international delights.
I love that ample tables and chairs are provided around the gardens and plenty of shaded areas as well. There are gorgeous windmills, a nod to the dutch heritage of the farm, which boasts a whopping 12 acres of seasonal blooms.Â
I was blown away by the stunning mass plantings of marigolds, dahlias, snapdragons, petunias and salvias, just to name a few, all in pretty patterns.
Don’t miss walking through the biggest and tallest sunflowers I have ever seen. The huge field of giant yellow flowers is absolutely breathtaking.
For a bird’s eye view of the gardens take a ride on the ferris wheel and enjoy the magical scene from above.
The easter bunny also makes an appearance and there is an unusual twist to the traditional easter hunt, an event not to miss for the little ones.Â
